You are welcome to ask on the job opportunities as post-doctoral researcher or Ph.D. studentships. The unsolicited queries can be sent directly to the professors and there are time-to-time positions, particularly Ph.D. studentships, that might be available for particularly talented applicants even if we have not advertised those. Usually the best time for starting are around September and February, meaning that applications should reach us at least a couple of months earlier.
PhD Student Researcher Position in 6G Networks
The Institute for Networked Systems at RWTH Aachen University has an opening for a PhD student researcher in 6G networks. The successful candidate will contribute research to the federally-funded 6GEM research hub, with a particular focus on intelligent radio resource management and novel MAC for resilient and adaptive 6G networks.
Interested candidates should meet the following criteria:
⁃ holding or expected to obtain an M.Sc. degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science/Engineering or related disciplines
⁃ strong background in mobile systems, communication theory, wireless communication networks, and communication protocols
⁃ very good programming/scripting skills (e.g. C/C++, Python, Matlab)
⁃ hands-on experience with programming SDR platforms and network simulators (e.g. ns-3) is a plus
⁃ quick comprehension and excellent analytical skills
⁃ ability to pursue independent research as well as collaborate in a team
⁃ excellent written and communication skills in English
Qualified candidates are invited to submit their applications including CV, transcripts of records, and contact of two referees, via email to Prof. Marina Petrova (jobs@inets.rwth-aachen.de).
Application deadline: 30/09/2023 (incoming applications will be continuously evaluated)
For further information or questions, please feel free to contact Dr. Ljiljana Simić (lsi@inets.rwth-aachen.de).

Position 1: Experimental Platforms for 6G MAC Prototyping:
⁃ development of real-time 6G experimental platform
⁃ design, implementation, and testing of real-time MAC schemes for resilient and adaptive 6G massive-connectivity
Position 2: Environment-Aware Architectures & Radio Resource Management :
⁃ design and evaluation of algorithms and protocols for environment-aware 6G RRM
⁃ focus on distributed networked sensing for supporting intelligent RRM for 6G mobile networks
Interested candidates should meet the following criteria:
⁃ holding or expected to obtain a PhD degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science/Engineering or related disciplines
⁃ strong background in wireless access technologies (Wi-Fi/LTE/5G), with focus on Layer 2+
⁃ solid programming/scripting skills (e.g. C/C++, Python, Matlab)
⁃ quick comprehension and excellent analytical skills
⁃ ability to pursue independent research as well as collaborate in a team
⁃ excellent written and communication skills in English
For Position 1, it is a strong plus if candidates have:
⁃ hands-on experience programming SDR/FPGA platforms
⁃ prior research work with wireless network testbeds and performing link-level measurements
⁃ research experience in millimeter-wave and MIMO systems
