12.09.2018 | Communications Networks (Kommunikationsnetze) Results

Exam results of Kommunikationsnetze have been posted. There will be an opportunity to have a look of exam papers (Einsicht) at 4 pm on Wednesday 19th September in the iNETS lecture room. 


12.09.2018 | New IoT Laboratory Course in Winter Semester

We are introducing a new Internet of Things (IoT) laboratory project in the coming winter semester. The course is similar to popular SMEAGOL laboratory, but IoTLab focuses on Internet of Technology issues in the context of embedded design, communications, and sensor. 


10.09.2018 | Two thesis talks on 10th of September

On Monday, September 10th we have two M.Sc. thesis seminars. Specifically we have two thesis talks. First, Mr Chaudhary Maid Nadeem presents his M.Sc. thesis results at 15:00. The thesis is titled "Classification and Prediction of Network Traffic using Machine Learning". This is is followed by a M.Sc. thesis talk given by Ms Anagha Thakur at 15:00 titled "Performance Evaluation of Modern TCP Variants in High-Speed Wireless Networks".

On Monday, June 20th we have a mini M.Sc. thesis seminar day. Specifically we have two thesis talks. First, Mr Sebastian B. Leutner presents his M.Sc. thesis results at 10:00. The thesis is titled "Software-Defined mm-Wave OFDM Transceiver using RFNoC FPGA Framework". This is is followed by a M.Sc. thesis given by Mr Colin de Vrieze  at 11:00 titled "RF Signal Classification using Machine Learning".


13.07.2018 | iNETS Thesis mini-conference on 13th of July

On Friday 13th of July, iNETS organises a mini-conference presenting results from two M.Sc. thesis and one B.Sc. thesis projects. The presentations are given by Ms Marie-Theres Suer for M.Sc. degree ("Cooperative Sensing Threshold for Future Wi-Fi Networks"), and Ms Nina Grosheva for M.Sc. degree ("Performance Study of Radar and Communications Systems Coexistence"). Ms Xiaotong Meng will defend her B.Sc. degree ("Machine Learning Algorithms for Radar Based Gesture Recognition"). The mini-conference presentations will start at 09:00 a.m. and will take place in the Seminar Room of iNETS.

On June 21st we have a mini M.Sc. thesis seminar day. Specifically we have two thesis talks. First, Mr Louay Mresheh presents his M.Sc. thesis results at 10:00. The thesis is titled "Performance Evaluation of Multiple-Receiver Random Access Schemes for Wireless Networks". This is is followed by a M.Sc. thesis talk by Mr Saumil Shah at 11:00 titled "Performance Evaluation of Wi-Fi/LTE Coexistence in ns-3".

On June 18th we have a double thesis talk day. First, Mr Amit Thakur presents his M.Sc. thesis results at 15:00. The thesis is titled "Measurement Study for Deriving Line-of-Sight Blockage Statistics in Urban Environments". This is is followed a B.Sc. thesis talk by Mr Kaiyan Liu at 16:00 titled "Influence of Building Data Quality on Coverage Prediction for mm-Wave Cellular Networks".

Mr Benedikt Rosarius will be presenting results from his M.Sc. thesis titled "Vehicle-to-Vehicle Communication Based Intersection Automation Using Model Predictive Control". The presentation will start at 16:00 on Monday 28th of March, and will take place in iNETS Seminar Room.

16.04.2018 | mmSys Workshop 2018

IEEE Workshop on Millimeter-Wave Networked Systems (mmSys) is taking place on 16.4 in Honolulu, Hawaii.  The workshop is co-located with INFOCOM 2018. The workshop is organised by Dr Ljiljana Simic (iNETS) and Prof. Marina Petrova, and program includes also a keynote from the pioneer of mmSys research Prof. Ted Rappaport (NUY).

Mr Shiwei Shen will be presenting results from his M.Sc. thesis titled "Applications of Game Theory to In-Band Full-Duplex Wireless Communications". The presentation will start at 10:00 on 16th of March, and will take place in iNETS Seminar Room.

On March 15th we have a double thesis talk day. First, Mr Jianlin Lin presents his M.Sc. thesis results at 15:00. The thesis is titled "Event-based depth perception for neuromorphic robots" and it has been done in cooperation with UZH/ETHZ. This is followed a M.Sc. thesis talk by Mr Hongjin Li at 16:00 titled "Performance of Channel and Power Allocation Schemes for Downlink Power-Domain NOMA Systems". 


14.02.2018 | MADCOM in EWSN 2018 Presentation

Dr Mähönen will be giving a MADCOM keynote talk "Extreme Densities and IoT Communications". The talk will take place on 14th of February in Madrid and is a part of larger EWSN 2018 conference.

15.12.2017 | Ph.D. dissertation talk and defence on 15th of December

Mr Alexandros Palaios will defend his doctoral dissertation on 15th of December. The public talk on large-scale spectrum sensing campaigns and a role of man-made noise will take place at 10:00 a.m. in Seminar Room of  iNETS. The defence will take place later in the afternoon and due to that the institute is closed after 3 p.m.

On Friday 3rd of November, iNETS organises a mini-conference presenting results from a M.Sc. thesis and two  B.Sc. thesis projects. The presentations are given by Mr Carmine Bianco for B.Sc. degree ("Performance Evaluation of the QUIC Protocol in Wireless Networks"), Mr Immanuel Gehring for B.Sc. degree ("Performance Evaluation of Dense 802.11ac Wi-Fi Network Deployments with Heterogeneous Channel Allocation"), and Mr Aleksander Gladis for M.Sc. degree ("Motion Data Assisted Classification of Smartphone Usage Events").The mini-conference presentations will start at 10:00 and will take place in the Seminar Room of iNETS.

On Thursday 2nd of November, iNETS organises a mini-conference presenting results from four B.Sc. thesis projects. The presentations are given by Ms Yuxi Sun ("Proximity Communication for Secure IoT Networks"), Mr. Alexander Moriz ("Performance Characterization of an Ultra-Wideband Radar for Even Recognition"), Mr Thomas Lambertz ("Distributed Spectrum Sensing with Low-Cost SDRs"), and Mr Michael Zentarra ("Empirical Characterisation of Millimeter-Wave Link Opportunities in an Indoor Environment"). The mini-conference presentations will start at 15:00 and will take place in the Seminar Room of iNETS. 


10.10.2017 | SMEAGOL Lab and 4th Semester Project

The topic area for this semester SMEAGOL-laboaratory and 4th Semester projects is IoT (Internet of Things). The groups will have a design project to implement special IoT "product prototype" and learning skills to run successful independent projects.

Mr Bernd Rörick presents results from his B.Sc. thesis titled "Evaluation of Wireless Interference from Unmanned Aerial Vehicles". The second thesis presentation is given by Mr Frenki Malolli who will present his M.Sc. thesis titled "Mobility Management for mm-Wave Cellular Networks". The presentations will take place on 1thh of September at 10 am and 11 am in Seminar Room of iNETS, respectively.

Ms Xiping Peng presents results from her M.Sc. thesis titled "Hybrid Tracking of Pedestrian using Inertial Sensors and Signal Strength Maps". The presentation will take place on 7th of July at 11:00 a.m. in Seminar Room of iNETS.

Mr Luis Gill  presents results from his M.Sc. thesis titled "Medium Access Control Strategies for In-Band Full-Duplex Ad-Hoc Wireless Networks". The second thesis presentation is given by Mr Martin Stump who will present his B.Sc. thesis titled "Empirical Characterisation of Millimeter-Wave Link Blockage Events". The presentations will take place on 30th of June at 10:00 a.m.  and 11:00 am in Seminar Room of iNETS, respectively.
